	<title>Credit Counseling</title>
	<description>
There are a lot of reasons that people go through a credit counseling program. Learn about credit counseling services here.

Credit Counseling is Smart
People who go through credit counseling on their own have been honest with themselves. They know they aren't that great at managing their money, and they don't want to find themselves with a mountain of credit card debt. So they get credit counseling to learn budgeting and saving techniques. They also learn how to shop wisely, as well as how to use credit cards wisely. (Credit cards are good to have. People get into trouble when they start abusing their credit cards though.) Credit counseling teaches you how to live within your means, how to plan for the future and build up a savings account.

The people who get credit counseling of their own accord are few and far between, unfortunately. More often than not, people get credit counseling when damage has already been done. Usually at this point they've enrolled in some sort of debt management program like debt consolidation and the debt management company suggests (or requires) credit counseling to keep consumers from needing a debt elimination program again, and to help them learn ways to improve their credit (if they have bad credit).

Consumer credit counseling is a step in the right direction. If you're not good with your money and you want to avoid having credit problems because of it, credit counseling can help. If you're already in debt and want to do something about it, credit counseling can help with that too. Good for you for taking that step towards a credit counseling service!
